Don’t Let Appearances Fool You

By July 23, 2024No Comments

Gen 37:24    And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
Gen 37:25    And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.

I love the story of Joseph and it seems every time I read it, new things capture my attention and I see the goodness, although unexplainable at times, of God.

There are seasons in life that apprehend us, and it appears bad men are winning.
The jealous hands of these brothers had determined to rid themselves of this dreamer.
With seeming ease they toss little brother into a pit and sit down to eat.

Remember this, God’s Will can come disguised as a pit or any other difficult circumstance you must endure.
What are you going through right now?
It might be hard to see but there really is a greater plan that human eyes can’t always see.

This also reminds us that we never know what a day may bring.
Joseph left home with orders from dad, “check on your brothers, and hurry back.”
The fact of the matter was, it would be 22 years before Jacob saw his son again.
How would that impact your faith today?

We must understand, the greatest testimonies often take the longest to live out.
How long has your trial lasted?
Don’t try to make logical sense out of a God thing.
As high as the heavens are above the earth, His ways are higher than ours.

Take heart my friend, it may look like bad men are winning; in fact it may feel like bad men are winning, but in truth God has only given them a season to trouble you.
Before God can move you positionally, He might move you logistically, and that involves a pit like that of Joseph.

Many of our battles come because of what we’re doing right, rather than what we’ve done wrong.

So don’t let what you’re feeling right now effect what you know.
The eyes of God are on you and His hand has never yielded to another force that seems to be against you.
With God, a step in the right direction might look like a step in the wrong direction.

The most important thing to understand when we’re going through a fiery trial, is not that we come through on top or in a better position…
The aim of our trials is that we might know God on an intimate level.
Success, titles and powerful positions, pale in comparison to knowing God in a greater dimension.

The song writer said, “take this whole world, but Give me Jesus.”
Let that be your focus as you pray your way through these fiery trials.

Don’t let appearances fool you, the man in the pit today, could be the man in the palace tomorrow.
It only takes one word for Almighty God and your situation changes.

Father, we embrace Your Plan for our current season of trials, because we know that what You have in store for us is beyond our imagination in purpose. Steady our faith for the dark nights and open our eyes of understanding. Let those going through similar trials find strength in You today. Let our wayward sons and daughters find their way home and grant us peace in the midst of Your Purpose…In Jesus Name!
